the Fire Tracker concept has porven itself in the US Forest Service in central Oregon. It received very favourable comments on its abilaity to do the work of 3 or 4 alternate machines. The machine was able to transport 1250 gallons of water long distances in roadless areas (on steep slopes).It is able to work the fire lines with the high pressure fire pump, discharging a water/foam mixture; it was able to travel quickly from point A ot point B and build fire guards usually done by crawler tractors. It is a great asset to ground crews on "mop-up" projects by its ability to uproot smoldering debris and apply water/foam without pulling out long lengths of hose. It does not require roads to move from one side of the fire zone to the other, in case, of fires escaping the prescribed area. It can also be used to deposit a layer of foam retardant along a fire guard to assist in containing the prescribed burn area.
